Kiyanna Deval Godak Thiyanawaty says she wants to learn English in order to improve her quality of life and economic opportunities. Kiyanna Deval Godak Thiyanawaty is a 25-year-old woman from Thailand who has overcome tough circumstances in life and dreams of a future that includes finding employment, learning English, and getting married. She is currently studying for an undergraduate degree in International Trade at the International University of Business and Technology. Every Sunday afternoon, Kiyanna takes a break from classes and spends time with friends watching TV shows or YouTube videos in English. She says that watching English TV shows and the YouTube videos help her learn some of the language's grammar and vocabulary, while also motivating her to pursue a better future. She compares these TV shows with reality because she can learn from them and try to apply such knowledge in life. She says that English is popular in Thailand and she is glad that it has become an important language, even though it can be difficult at times. Kiyanna learned English in the third grade by having a Thai-English teacher come to her school for one year. After that, she did not have any further English lessons. She thinks it would be helpful if there were more English lessons in the school curriculum and also if the Thai government could set up an easy way for people to get help with their English. The International University of Business and Technology is helping students like Kiyanna get a better education through English language training. According to Kiyanna, one of the reasons she wants to improve her English ability is for career prospects. She says that she wants to change her current job as a factory worker and instead maybe become a project manager at a chemical company or work in real estate. However, she is not sure what kind of work she will be doing in the future and, instead, wants to focus on her studies and passing her final exams. She hopes to graduate with a high GPA and then go to graduate school two years later. Once she earns her degree and finishes her studies, Kiyanna says that she would like to get married and have children. She says that she does not plan on going back home or moving from Thailand because she has been in Bangkok for the last 15 years of her life. Kiyanna was born in Nakhon Ratchasima Province but moved to Bangkok when she was 12-years-old with her mother. She lives with her mother and younger brother. Kiyanna does not have any other family members in Bangkok; she only has her mother and brother. Her mother is Thai and works as a factory worker at a clothing company. Her family lives in an apartment near the Mo Chit Skytrain Station. Her mother goes to work everyday by train and takes Kiyanna and her brother there as well. Kiyanna's older brother will go to school, while she goes to study at the International University of Business and Technology. cfa1e77820
